Have you or someone you know been a victim of a crime?

Crime hurts – physically, financially and psychologically – for weeks, months and even years after the crime occurs. Personal injuries and financial burdens are often compounded by unexpected emotional turmoil affecting all aspects of a person's life.

Our mission is to empower individuals impacted by crime to move from crisis to resilience. We provide resources, counseling, advocacy, and referrals for thousands of victims of crime and their families in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.

The Crime Victim Center of St. Louis (CVC) was founded in 1972 as the first victim service agency in the nation. We offer a wide range of services for individuals, communities and other organizations and institutions seeking to improve their services to victims of crime.

We are here to give victims a voice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of crimes do you help with?

CVC helps with any and all crimes including burglary, robbery, identity theft, assault, homicide, hate crimes, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault and others. CVC also offers legal assistance in civil court matters.

Will I have to pay to receive help?

No. All services are free of charge to victims and their families through the generosity of our donors and supporters. Crime costs victims both financially and emotionally; we don't believe they should pay twice.

Are you the police?

No. CVC is an independent, nonprofit agency and is not affiliated with police or law enforcement. While it is not necessary to have contacted the police to receive our services, we hope you will do so for your own safety. We can help you file a report or seek assistance from law enforcement.
